Reverb10 – Day 14 – Appreciate
Prompt: What’s the one thing you have come to appreciate most in the past year? How do you express gratitude for it?
I really appreciate how these REVERB 10 prompts help me reflect and compose a post when inclination is to hibernate especially after yesterday’s heavy snowfall, and near immobility in our neighbhorhood. It is so softly and silently beautiful, truly a silent day, a silent night. And we here on the Prairies seem to relish in our hardiness to endure and enjoy this seasonal abundance!
All of which leads me to say that what I appreciate deeply (I’m not sure I can say “most,” but certainly deeply and truly) in this past year is Mother Nature… she in all her wild, beautiful, enthralling, perplexing, nerve-wracking, fear-making, heart-breaking, breath-taking, tear-staining majesty, glory and guidance.
At least once a day, every day, for a moment or more, I stand in absolute awe of…
the wind, the rain, clouds, the sunset, the sunrise, the moon and it’s waxing and waning, the sun and its kindred stars, Jupiter and Venus
trees in stages of dress and undress, buds about to burst, flowers drenched in raindrops, leaves so green they squint and so gold they glow
the mud, the muck, earth baked so dry it’s cracked and impervious to moisture
bird song, squirrel chatter, errant skunk scent
snow flakes, double rainbows, green shimmering northern lights, colour muted and monochrome, vibrant and wild
mountains, prairies, parklands, seashores, waterfalls, lakewaves, rivercurrents
At least once a day, every day, for a moment or more, I say “thank you” from the depths of my heart, from every cell of my being.
